Good news! Zhang Ming from the School of Marxism wins the top prize in the 4th Jiangsu Province University Teaching Competition for Young Teachers

The 4th Jiangsu Province University Teaching Competition for Young Teachers and the trials for the 6th National University Teaching Competition for Young Teachers were held at Hohai University from August 22 to 25, 2022. Sponsored by the Jiangsu Provincial Federation of Trade Unions, Provincial Department of Education, and Provincial Communist Youth League Committee, the competition was organized by Jiangsu Education Technology Trade Union under the guidance of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security. A total of 168 teachers from 67 universities in Jiangsu province participated in the event.




Zhang Ming, representing the 168 contestants, delivered a speech at the award ceremony, stating that “Teaching calls for research and research feedbacks teaching, the two complement each other.” Zhang noted that the time and energy he has invested in teaching did not affect his research work but had a huge positive impact on the research work. He also expressed gratitude to the platform for providing him with training, insights, exchanges, and improvement.





The School of Marxism at Nanjing University attached great importance to this competition and provided guidance and improvement to the teaching abilities of young teachers by supporting them to participate in teaching competitions and building an expert coach team for teaching competitions. Through on-site selection, simulation competitions, and practical exercises, Zhang Ming continuously optimized his teaching design, repeatedly polished the teaching courseware, and conscientious improved teaching skills. He has showcased the proactive and enterprising spirit of young teachers in the School of Marxism with advanced educational ideals, a solid theoretical foundation, exquisite teaching skills, and decent demeanor and appearance.


Taking teaching competitions as opportunities to promote teaching, the School of Marxism will further inspire young teachers’ enthusiasm for teaching and education, encouraging them to master basic teaching skills solidly, striving to cultivate a high-quality and professional faculty with firm ideals and beliefs, positive moral character, solid knowledge, and a benevolent heart, with the aim of constantly improving its quality of education and teaching.



Teacher Profile


Zhang Ming is currently the Assistant Dean and Associate Professor in the School of Marxism and also serves as the Deputy Director of the Nanjing University Base of the Jiangsu Provincial Center for the Study of the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics. He has been included in the National Major Talent Project Selected (Youth Project) and has won a Grand Prize for the 1st Exhibition of Ideological and Political Courses in Colleges and Universities held by the Ministry of Education and two second prizes for Excellent Achievements in Philosophy and Social Sciences in Jiangsu Province. Professor Zhang has published three monographs, co-authored multiple books, and independently published nearly 100 academic papers in CSSCI source journals, such as Philosophical Research, Studies on Marxist, CPC History Studies, as well as more than 10 theoretical articles in authoritative newspapers such as People’s Daily, Guangming Daily and other journals. Zhang has led and completed more than ten projects, including those sponsored by National Social Science Fund of China, undertaken four sub-projects of the Central Marxist Theory and Construction Project, as well as major projects funded by the National Social Science Fund of China. Additionally, he has been selected as an expert for provincial programs, such as the “333 High-Level Talent Project”, “Outstanding Youth in Social Sciences” and the “Navigate & Set Sail” program for ideological and political courses in colleges and universities in Jiangsu Province.
